HFLI Staff

Working at HFLI

HFLI‘s enthusiastic team comes from education, design, community organizations, and business. We all have different roles and life experiences that we leverage when we work together and mobilize diverse collaborators to drive visionary change and ambitious outcomes.

It’s fulfilling work, with great people, dynamic environments, and competitive pay and benefits. All in a culture of care for the whole person. That care shows up in a commitment to maintaining a mobile and flexible work place. Care for family time. Personal and shared DEI journeys. Providing the tools needed to do the job. A holiday calendar that reflects the diversity of our team. And more.

And we are big on maintaining something that we call "sharing fries." It started with a ritual: the communal plate of delicious lunchtime fries in the The Henry Ford's employee dining room. Today, this saying symbolizes our values and ways of being: generosity, trust, a sense of play, and enjoying time and experiences together.

HFLI Core values

Keep Learners
First

Learners’ needs and interests and learning drive our decisions. We always ask, “Is this the RIGHT thing to do for the learner?”

Achieve Audacious Outcomes

We strive for ambitious goals, doing what it takes to demonstrate excellence in our work and provide students, staff and partners with exemplary service and outcomes.

Develop Fearless Innovative Leaders

We use Design Thinking to guide our work and interactions with others. We embrace risk and actively contribute to creating a safe culture for all to do so. We take responsibility to address challenges as we see them arise.

Drive Visionary Change

We embrace the challenge to transform teaching and learning by reflecting on our current work practices, testing out new approaches and advocating for effective new options.

Mobilize Diverse, Committed Collaborators

We seek out and embrace the skills and talents of others to benefit our own learning and shared work. We work together to address challenges, overcome differences and accomplish our goals.

Nurture a Culture of Prototyping

We actively learn by doing, accepting mistakes as a necessary step in continuous improvement. We regularly try out new ideas with small steps, seek feedback and improve our work gradually.
