Equity in Education: Imagining a New Future in Detroit – a 2018 Detroit Month of Design Happening

What does equity mean, particularly in education? Join us on Tuesday, September 11th for an inclusive, hands-on workshop to consider this complicated question. Using Design Thinking tools and methods, you’ll collaborate with others to imagine new social, economic and political futures for education and contribute to a positive and productive discussion around our city’s needs for equitable opportunities. Whether you are a high school student, parent, designer, educator, entrepreneur, neighborhood leader or retiree, your voice matters. 9:30 am to 12:30 pm with a light breakfast 9:00 am. Free, but pre-registration is required (see below). Seats are limited.

Two education-focused organizations have teamed up to create this dynamic happening: HFLI provides programs that empower learners in K-20 education, youth initiatives and workplaces worldwide to think creatively, work collaboratively with others, and implement innovations. GVSU has a long standing tradition and commitment to providing quality education for students in grades K-12 and serves more than 35,000 students across the state.
